About the organisation
Who we are
We are a startup not-for-profit with charitable status and deductible-gift-recipient (DGR) endorsement, established on a national basis to help close the gap in support for victims of domestic violence across Australia.
We exist to serve all victims of family and domestic violence throughout Australia.
We operate on an ongoing basis to:
- provide 24/7 support and advocacy services, and support programmes, to victims of family and domestic violence;
- provide transport services to and from medical and other community services where necessary and practicable, to enable victims of family and domestic violence to access healthcare and additional community assistance;
- establish and operates community centres to provide programmes regarding family and domestic violence that aim to educate and improve public awareness;
- establish and operating virtual programmes regarding family and domestic violence that aim to educate and improve public awareness.

About the role
Overview of responsibilities
- Managing board processes including meetings, documentation, and records
- Managing the Board’s information systems
- Preparation and timely dissemination of papers to the Board, and Board Committees as required, and taking of minutes and associated documentation
- Maintaining company registers in a timely manner
- Researching options
- Provide advice
- Making recommendations based on advice
- Support the Board’s sub-committees
- Work with the Chair on induction of Directors
Key accountabilities
- Expertise and responsibility for corporate governance requirements including advising the Board of regulatory changes and responsibility for statutory obligations
- Leadership guidance, technical support and advice to the Board
- Setting and managing high standards of ethical behaviour and decision making
- Preparing all necessary documentation for AGM’s and special meetings as required
- Management and maintenance of the Board’s documentation, ensuring currency and adherence
- Provide effective governance and compliance support to the Board
General Board functions and responsibilities
- Meet on a monthly or quarterly basis for 1-2 hours in the afternoon/evening
- Time commitment approximately 1-6 hours per quarter
- The position description is indicative of the initial expectation of the role and subject to change in accordance with organisational goals and priorities
Basis of position

Initially, this role will a voluntary position. The basis of the role will be reassessed once we receive adequate funding.
